Plant Chicago Now Accepting Interns

Plant Chicago will now be accepting winter ‘semester’ internship applications! Applications are due by Wednesday 1/27/2016 at 5 pm. See more details below.


The Plant Chicago internship program is an opportunity for individuals to work with and learn from a team of closed loop innovators. Interns will assist Plant Chicago staff with their upcoming circular economy centered investigations. An intern may also work on a project of their own creation if it falls under one of these requirements.

To coincide with the academic calendar, internships will be offered in ‘semesters’ 3 times per year (winter, spring/summer and fall) lasting a minimum of 8 weeks. Interns are expected to be available for a minimum of 8 hours per week.


Current Availability:

Education Intern: Assist with educational programming, including tours and workshops. Projects may include developing or updating curricula.


Farmers Market Intern: Help with operations on market days and implement projects that promote the market.


Indoor Farm Tech: Assist on various circular economy projects involving the planning, implementation, and/or assessment of building processes and logistics. Help maintain existing farm tech projects including algae bio-reactor, aquaponic farm and mushroom fruiting chamber.

Project focus includes (but not limited to) the following fields: Engineering, Industrial Design, Education, Communications, Mycology, Biology, Agricultural Science, Food Science, Graphic Design.

1. Which semester are you applying for? (Winter, Spring/Summer, Fall)

2. Are you a current student? Is there credit available through your school for an internship?

3. What is your availability? (days of the week, hours, etc)

4. If you are interested in working on a project of your own creation, please tell us about it.
