Meet the Summer 2023 Interns


Alex will graduate in August from Indiana University Purdue University Indianapolis (IUPUI) with a B.S. in Environmental Science and a Minor in Spanish. Alex has also just returned from studying abroad in Australia for the past 6 months - what an adventure! Alex has many passions related to environmental science and was inspired by Plant Chicago. She hopes to be exposed to many different aspects of circular economy, urban agriculture, and alternative agriculture methods.


Fun fact: Alex played Division 1 soccer!





Jason is currently in his junior year at Curie Metropolitan High School with future hopes of studying Art and Drawing. He is interning with Plant Chicago to learn how to grow his own food and plants.


Fun fact: you can catch Jason on the courts playing varsity volleyball!







Kenny is a recent Thomas Kelly High School graduate and plans to attend University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. He is interested in pursuing a career in Technology Engineering. Kenny strongly resonates with Plant Chicago’s environmental mission, mainly because his hobby is growing plants.



Fun fact: Kenny is currently growing an apple tree!





Litzy will be starting at University of Illinois at Chicago this fall as a major in Environmental Science. When not in school, she is interning with High Jump Chicago and with Plant Chicago in support of educational programming! Living in the neighborhood, Litzy saw a need to spread Plant Chicago’s mission and was inspired to get the word out. Litzy hopes to connect environmental sustainability with low-income businesses to help them incorporate aspects that can be hard to budget and understand without additional support.


Fun fact: Litzy has never had soda or coffee before!



Paege recently relocated to Chicago from Atlanta to study psychology and sustainability as a graduate student at Roosevelt University. They aspire to build a sustainable homestead in support of trans folks, which will provide mental health services while teaching the community skills to live off the grid. Paege was awarded a fellowship through their grad program to pursue this internship and selected Plant Chicago, having been inspired by the mission.


Fun fact: Paege loves to host drag events - you can join their drag arts and crafts hour on Twitch!



Talia is a recent transplant from Hong Kong and has worked in the sustainability industry as a writer and, most recently, a Marketing Manager for an urban rooftop farm based in the city. After a long stint in the fashion industry, Talia is passionate about all things circular and tries to incorporate many aspects of circularity into her daily life. She is inspired by the work at Plant Chicago and thrilled to be a part of the team!


Fun fact: Talia is a mother of 2 and a former Denim Designer who has spent the last six years exploring and traveling around Asia and Europe.
