Stella Sturgill.

I’m Stella, a rising sophomore at Sarah Lawrence College exploring my interests in environmental science, social justice, and health and wellness. On campus, I'm an active member of the Green Rights Organization for the World, a student-led club focused on environmental advocacy, and I'm currently working to institutionalize composting across our community. I was drawn to Plant Chicago through my childhood experiences attending the 61st Street Farmers Market, which introduced me to the value of small-scale, local, and community-centered farming. Growing up on the South Side of Chicago also deepened my awareness of the disparities in urban environments—particularly in access to green space, clean air, quality education, and organic food. This summer, I’m excited to be working with Plant Chicago as their Food Access Intern, supporting the farmers market and contributing to the second year of their Urban Sustainability Youth Program.
