Thank you to everyone who joined us for our annual fundraiser, the Harvest Dinner! We shared delicious food and drink from local chefs with more than 175 supporters and raised over $10,000 for our K-12 education, small business support, and open source research. Check out more photos of the event taken by Ingrid Bonne Photography!
This year we honored one of our market vendors, Ste Martaen, for switching to all compostable materials, and the frequent circular economy collaboration between two of our partner businesses, Closed Loop Farms and JustIce Inc. Closed Loop and JustIce regularly participate in the local circular economy through bartering practices, resource sharing, and their cross marketing campaigns. This past year, JustIce Inc. worked with their building owner to organize a recycling pickup for the plastic film they use during ice production. This material would have otherwise ended up in the landfill. We were happy to share the evening with such exceptional small businesses!
The incredible food served at the event was provided, created, and served by local Chefs: Chef Won Kim (Kimski), Iliana Regan (Elizabeth), Abra Berens (Granor Farm), and Nahum and Laviyah St. Martin (Ste Martaen). Additional food was provided by the delightfully organized and tasty Big Delicious Planet. Dessert was a salted caramel vegan gelato from Sacred Serve topped with Holiday Posh Nosh from No Denial Foods. And let’s not forget the open bar, which featured libations from Whiner Beer Company, Virtue Cider, and Apologue Liqueurs. Thanks so much for providing such wonderful food and drink!
Didn’t make the event? No worries! You can still support our efforts to cultivate local circular economies through donating to Plant Chicago today.
